Prescribed Fire on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026
The Colbert-Cameron Mitigation Bank will be utilizing Prescribed Fire as a land management activity on Wednesday, June 17th starting at approximately 9:30am.
This is a 150-acre controlled burn that will be directly South of where Dragonfly Run meets Wild Pine Rd, Shellcracker Rd, and Blackberry Rd. Smoke screens show smoke traveling NE.
It is never our intention to cause heavy smoke in Lake Harney Woods POA, but due to safety concerns from SR 46 and other weather parameters, this is sometimes our only option. Due to drought conditions during the spring of 2026, we are doing our best to stay on top of our burn rotations when we have the weather systems to do so. Florida Ecosystems RELY on Rx Fire! We appreciate your understanding.
Please exercise caution while driving near the burn. Smoke direction can change in an instant and cause decreased visibility.
Prescribed Fire is a very important land management tool that does wonderful things for the ecosystem. As a mitigation bank, we are obligated to follow the rules of the regulatory agencies, one of which is prescribed fire to increase ecosystem success.
