Prescribed Fire on Friday, December 5th, 2025

The Colbert-Cameron Mitigation Bank will be utilizing Prescribed Fire as a land management activity on Friday, December 5th starting at approximately 11:00am.
This is a 98-acre controlled burn that will be East of Morgan Alderman Rd & South of Gopher Slough Rd & Leather Fern Ln.
Smoke screens show smoke traveling NE. We expect this burn to create a good amount of smoke, but anticipate good mixing height for good smoke dispersion.
It is never our intention to cause heavy smoke in Lake Harney Woods POA, but due to safety concerns from SR 46 and other weather parameters, this is sometimes our only option. We appreciate your understanding.
Please exercise caution while driving near the burn. Smoke direction can change in an instant and cause decreased visibility.
Prescribed Fire is a very important land management tool that does wonderful things for the ecosystem. As a mitigation bank, we are obligated to follow the rules of the regulatory agencies, one of which is prescribed fire.
